When To Pick Watermelon Off The Vine

I’m trying to decide when to pick my watermelon off the vine. I’ve heard that it’s important to wait until the melon is ripe, but I’m not sure how to tell. I’ve been told that the watermelon should be firm, but not hard, and the spot where it touches the ground should be yellow. I’ve also heard that the tendril closest to the melon should be dry. I’m wondering if anyone has any other tips or advice on how to tell when a watermelon is ripe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
